CAT ON THE LAP LAW

Today Grandpa and I took a ride on TRAX. We got up at 5:30 AM to get ready and be at the station by 6:30. Gee's it wasn't even light yet. We then rode for almost an hour (in the dark) to arrive at our destination by 7:40 AM. Now you may be asking why we would do such a thing. Don't jump to conclusions, we are neither senile or bored beyond measure. I call it a result of the CAT IN THE LAP LAW. you've heard of murpheys law well this is how this law works. Two people walk into a home of a cat owner. One is an animal lover and one is allergic to cats and never liked them anyway. The animal lover will say," oh what a beautivul cat, here kitty kitty." The cat will completely ignore all that pretty talk and coaxing and jump directly onto the lap of the cat hater. I've seen this happen many times works the same with dogs. Now Grandpa would give anything to serve on a jury, even getting the call to get a chance to be chosen would send his heart a racing. On the other hand I break out in a cold sweat at the mention of the possibility of getting that "greetings from the court system." Now you know who has received these summons twice now in as many years. I don't know how many court housed there are in Salt Lake but I am personally aquainted with 3 of them. With so much destruction and construction going on in the city there isn't any parking near 350 South Main besides the fact I don't need the stress of commuter traffic at that unearthly hour of the morning I'opted for TRAX. Never going downtown unless forced to and only rinding TRAX last time this happened I decided I needed a trial run. Poor Grandpa he was a good sport and went with me. Good thing the train stops a block away from the building and on the same street. You know me and my bad sense of direction. Now if I can just leave a trail of bread crumbs to the 2nd floor I just might find my way home.

Hey the pictures came through in different order than when I wrote this. I have a lot to learn. That is why this looks like a grandma with no tech savy wrote it.

I thought Id see if I could do more than one at a time now that the one of PaPa worked Bottom right is Sharmon, Jamie and Kari, carrying on the Christmas donut tradition. To the left are Ethan, Garrison, Nate and Josie. Top left Tucker in his favorite spot when food is around. Top middle picture Sharel hard at work holding the sofa down. Top right Cassidy cleaning up. You may all be sorry I learned to do this next time I'll be finding some good ones of the rest of the family even if I have to go way back.:)

Trying to post a picture

Well, today has been a lazy day. I excercised this morning then Dad and I went to the temple. When we got back I was exhausted and took a nap. I think the reason I accomplished nothing after that is, I may be coming down with something. Anyway, thats my story and I'm sticking to it. It rained today and that melted the huge piles of snow next to the driveway to about half their size. Yesterday I was helping this little old lady at the grocery store. She was on a scooter and when she struggled to her feet she wasn't much taller than before. I reached the item she needed and when I handed it to her she said," I just have to stop taking hot showers, I'm shrinking too much." I haven't received any answers to the questions I asked ---is anyone out there? Is anyone reading this? Heidi is going to look for a job. They are still trying to sell one of their homes. It will be very hard if I loose my exercise partner and neighbor, not to mention my emergency " cup of sugar" supplier. We have added a new workout. Dad introduced us to it. We walk against the current in the swimming pools "river". We walk and use the machines on Mon and Thurs. Wed and Fri. we walk the river (those are killer days), Tues we go to the temple. We leave the house at 7:30 AM and get home by 15 to 9:00. Gees you'd think I'd be melting away but after 3 years I havent shrunk much at all. I guess I'd have to stop eating or maybe that old lady knows something I don't.:) Dad was able to build a fire tonight after about 3 red burn days. It feels soooo good downstairs. The rain is washing the smug from the valley. Well I titled this sending a picture so I will try and see if I have better luck getting to the ones on my computer. Oh by the way i got my jury duty summons for Feb. 2 you know how that stresses me out. It's not the court house I went to last time and it's not the new big Mathison court house across from the City and County. It's on 350 south and Main. I can't figure out as much as I hate this and Dad would LOVE to do it that I get called twice in 3 years and he never does. Well here goes the try at pictures---Well dang it didn't work I'll keep trying but will post this rambling so I don't somehow loose it. Excuse the spelling, and grammer. Love Me

Hi, I was just going through some papers and found this poem I wrote after visiting all of you this past summer. I don't know if I gave you a copy, so here goes.
THE CURSE
IHOPE YOU HAVE ONE JUST LIKE YOU,
MY MOTHER USE TO SAY.
WHY, I'M SUCH A PERFECTANGEL
THAT'LL BE SUCH A GREAT DAY.

WHEN I FIRST HELD YOU, CHILD SO SWEET,
I SNUGGLED YOU AND DREAMED.
YOU'LL NEVER BRING ME GRIEF OR TEARS
NOR BROKEN HEART, IT SEEMED

BUT THE BATTLE OF THE WILLS BEGAN
BEFORE YOU STOOD AND WALKED.
YOU'RE A WORTHY ADVERSARY.
I HAD THE EDGE UNTIL YOU TALKED.

SOME DAYS ITS EITHER LAUGH OR SCREAM
AN ACTRESS YOU'VE BECOME.
TURN ON THE TEARS, DIG IN YOUR HEELS,
YELL OR BE DEAF AND DUMB.

OTHER DAYS WHEN YOUR MOST STUBBORN,
I SAY, "ENOUGH, WE'RE DONE!"
"FINE!", YOU SAY, WITH FOLDED ARMS.
IDON'T FEEL LIKE I'VE WON,

FRSTRATED ONE DAY WHEN YOU'D BEEN BAD,
I PASSED TO YOU THE CURSE.
WITH SATISFACTION GRANDMA SMILED,
WAIT 'TIL THE TEENS IT'D WORSE.

I know I said ,"thats all for today" but after going to the devotional I just had to add one more thing. I have to get on my soap box for a moment. FAMILIES CAN BE TOGETHER FOR EVER!!!! To my kids, I just wanted to encourage you to make time to go to the temple. It will remind you of the beautiful blessings and promises given you there. You will also find the PEACE, STRENGTH and INSPIRATION you need to help you with the problems that come to you in this life. Hey if you want to come to one of the temples near us Grandpa and I will tend the kids while you go. Now that should be an offer you can't refuse. To the grandkids, Grandpa and I want to say one thing we pray for is that we will live long enough to go to the temple with you, all of you from the oldest to the youngest, when you are old enough, and see you receive the beautiful blessings that are waiting for you there. You can do it we know you can. The open house for the Draper temple goes until March. It would be great if you could get your families here to go through the temple before it is dedicated. Jan, I know thats not possible for you, just wish it were.
You will have to forgive my spelling for awhile as I have not figured out how to use spell check right. Somethimes it doesn't help any way, case in point, the word peace in my first blog that should have been piece. Oh well, my hearts in the right place even if my periods and capital letters aren't.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

I thought as this is my first,--well second try at blogging, I'd keep it simple, no pictures. I have been thinking of doing our news letter for winter. Kari seems to think that this blog will replace it and she is probably right. Because I am old and old fashioned I tend to feel uncomfortable with out that peace of paper in my hand. It seems I am always loosing things on the computer and not being able to retrieve them. Wait a minute, I loose papers all the time. I sit them down and they vanish. Oh, well, I think I'll mail one more and see how this goes. I guess you all know that Kari, Jami and Zach all have blogs. If you haven't checked them out yet you should they are GREAT. Back to a news letter will each of you please Email me the answers to the following 3 questions. Don't give them as comments here because everyone would know your answers and I need them for our news letter. Big ones please help the little ones get their answers to me. Here's the questions: Name 2 jobs you'd like to have or 2you have had. Name 2 movies you have seen and would go see again. Name 2 places you have been. Name 2 people who call or email you regularly. Name 2 favorite foods. Name 2 things you are looking forward to. Name 2 places you would rather be right now. Ok, that's your assignment. The contest is who can get this info to me first. I'm looking at this title and it makes me think just how do we keep our lives more simple. I always thought that when I got to be a grandma I'd have so much spare time on my hands and would be able to do all the hand work and things my mom did. It hasn't happened and right now I don't even seem to keep the orderly house she had either. Grandpa says his days are occupied but not necessarily well planed all of the time. Sometimes we tease about being busy doing nothing. It brings to mind the words to the song that I think came from the Wizzard of Oz. "I'm busy doing nothing busy the whole day through, trying to find lots of things not to do. I'm busy going nowhere isn't it just a crime. I'd like to be unhappy but I never do have the time." Well that's all for the day. I have to go get ready for church. Dad and I have a temple workers devotional at the Conference Center this afternoon.

Grandma's first post

hey I did it myself!

Missing You all!

We thought that this would be a great way for everyone to keep in touch. Give us your input and share your stories. It would be great if each family had their own blog! Kari helped me set this up; Hopefully I can remember how to do it and keep the blog going!
